The setting is half the practice. Across Ontario you can roll out a mat inside a warm greenhouse in the dead of winter, in a wood-stove-heated yurt at the forest’s edge, beside grazing alpacas, or on the water with the city in view. These sessions run only now and then, and only in their season, which is what makes them worth seeking out. Here are the ones worth finding.
Greenhouse Yoga at Royal City Nursery
Guelph
A third-generation family garden centre with a greenhouse the size of a small field. Through the cold months they hold a quiet hour of yoga inside it, warm and green and growing while the world outside goes grey. One of the few worth finding in the dead of winter.
Goat Yoga at Udderly Ridiculous Farm Life
Oxford County
A family farm an hour and a half from the city, where goat yoga runs from spring into autumn and the goats consider your mat their own. The practice is gentle, the interruptions are constant, and that is entirely the point. Stay after for the cows and the lunch.
Puppy Yoga at Muskoka Puppy Yoga
Huntsville
Up in cottage country, a gentle flow plays out on the floor while a litter of puppies wanders between the mats. Less about the poses, more about the hour. A soft landing after a day on the lake, and the kind of thing that fills the moment it opens.
Alpaca Yoga at Alpaca Ridge Farms
Stirling
Yoga in the company of alpacas, who watch the whole thing with great suspicion and occasional interest. Small groups, a quiet farm setting, and time afterward to feed them and linger. Stirling is a drive, and the calm of the place is the reward.
Paddleboard Yoga at Toronto Island SUP
Toronto Island
Yoga on a paddleboard, on the calm water off the Island, with the skyline standing over your shoulder. Balance becomes the practice, and the lake decides how the class goes. It runs only in the warm months, and there is nothing else quite like it this close to the city.
Yurt Yoga at Yurt Yoga, Bobcaygeon
Bobcaygeon
An authentic Mongolian yurt at the forest’s edge, warmed by a wood stove, where Joey Henderson leads yoga, sound baths, and full-moon evenings through the year. The round walls and the firelight do something a studio cannot. Sessions are small and held by season, so they are worth watching for.
Yoga with the Animals at The KWSP Humane Society
Kitchener & Stratford
An hour of gentle yoga at the Humane Society, where rescue cats and other shelter animals wander the room and decide which mat looks most comfortable. The practice is real, the company is unpredictable, and every spot helps the animals waiting for a home. Held at the Kitchener and Stratford centres.
Equine Yoga at Jo Koniuch Yoga and Equine Wisdom
Wellington County
Jo practices yoga in the paddock, with her horses as partners rather than scenery. Sessions move between mat work, hammocks, and time among the herd, built around the quiet the animals bring to a space. Held as classes and half or full-day retreats through the season, for people who want something slower and more grounded than a novelty.
